THE EDUCATIONAL CITY, LA NOÉ – Chanteloup-les-Vignes (78)

Urban Regeneration of the Noé sector

Faced with the burdensome legacy of modern urbanism, it is becoming evident that the context has evolved significantly. It is time to reconnect with a forgotten geography and develop a more sustainable urbanism, especially in light of the current ecological and economic crises. The Noé sector, designed in the 1960s-70s by Emile Aillaud, is a testament to this past urbanism, but we propose to leverage its positive aspects. Since the 1980s, the city has embarked on an urban renewal project, opening up the neighborhood, introducing functional diversity, and upgrading the existing housing stock. Our project aligns with this approach, introducing a flagship initiative for the city, the educational complex, aiming to enhance educational support for children. It is based on a network of squares and public spaces fostering dialogue between residents and their neighborhood, while integrating landscape elements to strengthen the connection with nature and enhance the neighborhood’s image. By addressing the role of women in public space, we aim to make the site La Noé more sustainable and inclusive, designing urban spaces that are more equitable.
