PIERRES HABITÉES – ZAC Sud Chanteraines, Gennevilliers (92)
63 collective housing units
We view architecture as an expression of structure. The building named “Pierres Habitées” is constructed based on a simple structural principle: an elegant load-bearing stone façade with low-carbon concrete columns and an intermediate load-bearing wood post-and-beam frame. This approach leverages the best mechanical properties of concrete while minimizing its carbon impact as much as possible. The distribution cores serve as the bracing elements of the project. To optimize the use of biosourced materials, we have chosen a composite wood-concrete floor system. This provides excellent mechanical performance with spans similar to traditional concrete slabs while maintaining good acoustic insulation between apartments. It also offers significant thermal comfort thanks to the good thermal inertia of the exposed concrete underside. This conceptual approach also reflects our commitment to a less carbon-intensive (RE2020 level 2025), more resource-efficient construction.
