The rehabilitation of the Patinoire-Oréades building in Cergy combines environmental objectives, neighborhood revitalization, economic attractiveness, and heritage enhancement. The building is stripped down and then re-clad using a contemporary design language. The project is characterized by simple, rational, and sustainable architectural choices that draw on the site’s heritage and the architecture of Jean Dubuisson. The rehabilitation retains as much of the existing structure as possible, and the existing windows are replaced with wooden frames, while the façade is dressed in ceramic cladding. The residential buildings, set on the existing base, are constructed entirely with a wooden structure. The floors and partition walls are also made of CLT-type wood. The façades are covered with a mix of steel cladding and plaster. Inside, we prioritized the use of reclaimed materials.
