The transformation of Place Saint-Louis is part of a broader effort to revitalize Garches’ town center. The project aims to create a calmer, greener, and more accessible public space that strengthens connections with surrounding areas and restores the square’s role as a true neighborhood hub.
Designed in the spirit of ecological transition and climate resilience, the new layout integrates generous planting, coherent urban furniture, and appropriate lighting to enhance comfort and legibility. Pedestrian access is improved through clearer routes and extended continuity with adjacent streets and forecourts.
Key design principles include opening views toward Saint-Louis Church, enhancing pedestrian flow, assessing and adapting existing vegetation, and supporting local commerce through better use of public space. Car traffic and parking are reduced to prioritize pedestrian safety and conviviality.
Ultimately, the project seeks to offer residents a more enjoyable, functional, and sustainable living environment while reaffirming the identity and appeal of Place Saint-Louis at the heart of Garches.
